Designing a wordmark logo is not only cost-effective, but also gives a unique identity to your brand name. Logos of FedEx, Disney, Visa and Google are typical examples of wordmark design.

2. Lettermark Logo Design – The Lettermark logos are very similar to wordmark design. These logos also lay emphasis on typographic mark, the only difference is that these usually involve initials or abbreviations. The representation of the letters becomes the symbol of the company. You should go for a Lettermark logo design if the abbreviated form of your company name looks graphically better than the actual full form. Businesses that have to link different subsidiaries to the parent company often choose the Lettermark logos. Companies that have Lettermark logos include GE (General Electric), HP (Hewlett and Packard) and P&G (Proctor and Gamble).

3. Brandmark Logo Design – Just think of brand names like Nike and Apple and you will be able to figure out what the Brandmark logos are all about. These logos are simple graphical representations of a particular brand. The graphical element is often complemented with an abstract that represents the business by association. If you are looking for an emblem for your business or company, the Brandmark logo type is ideal for you. Businesses that do not have enough global appeal in their name or are still working on the personality of the brand, often go for Brandmark type of logos.

4. Iconic Logo Design – An iconic logo is generally an amalgamation of Brandmark and Wordmark logo types. It is also referred to as combination marks logo. When you have to communicate the company’s business as well as its personality, iconic logo type is the preferred choice of designers. Usually startups that are short of funds choose this type of logos. When the name of the company is quite distinct but does not have enough market presence, iconic logos are quite effective in communicating the brand value.
